A beautifully quiet Sunday Morning. A blanket of snow covers the ground. It is time to shift from doing to being. Summer is filled with busy bees and butterflies. Winter becomes a gentler time of softly falling snow creating diamonds and sparkle for our pleasure.
I always dread the idea of winter, but once here, it brings a sense of peace, of calm. I think perhaps it is resistance in having no control of when this season will fall upon us, along with no sense of knowing how long winter will stay. As I consider this, I ask myself where else I find resistance, out of a need to be in control.
It comes to me, that most often people would rather be in control, even more than they want to be happy.
As I continue my search for proof of my hypothesis, I consider this idea of control, ideas of resistance and non-resistance, allowing, letting go, giving, receiving. I consider the terms religious, spiritual, Christian, atheist. I have spent much time in meditation over the ideas of theology and science.
Where once theology and science were almost opposite ends of the spectrum, the gap is now closing. Once again we see how the struggle for power, had been more important than the facts. We see this same struggle with traditional medicine and wholistic. This same power game keeps us locked in a control game with nature, our jobs, relationships, businesses and ourselves.
I smile when I hear someone use words, I have also used in the past. "I am not religious, I am Spiritual." It is often said with such emphasis on the Spiritual. One day in meditation of something I had heard in a workshop, I began to see the phrase as just another way of resisting the truth, staying in control, holding power over our own lives and beliefs.
In truth, if we look deeper scientists will tell us Energy is everywhere, in all things, has no beginning and no end. Theologians will say, "God is everywhere, in all things, has no beginning and no end." Energy and God therefore are omnipresent. Omnipotent means to me powerful, mighty, supreme and many will say this word can only refer to God, yet I ask you to think about the changing seasons or weather conditions. Is nature not the omnipotent one? And yes, you may say God is in charge of nature. Yet so are we. We, as humans, given dominion over the earth, affect nature in many ways. So then, does that make us omnipotent, the all powerful, supreme?
As we move through the definitions we begin to question if there is only one supreme power and whatever name we give it, it is everywhere, in all things, has no beginning and no end, how do we as humans become so arrogant as to think we are separate or apart from that energy? How could it even be possible for us to be separate?
And yet in our need to be in control, when times are tough or things aren't working out the way we want, we lose a loved one, find ourselves in the midst of a messy divorce, lose our home, or our job, we desperately look for something outside of ourselves to blame. And this blame is often toward God, Spirit, the economy, the government, our neighbors, or family members, some unknown person, somewhere...... Who and what are these powers, outside of ourselves?
In all honesty, I think blame is just another way of resistance to the truth. I think we need to be so in control and yet when our way is not working, we still want someone else to be wrong. And I think we would rather blame than take responsibility, because in truth God doesn't care. This energy which has no beginning and no end, is everywhere present at all times and in all things, can only express through the creative forces which exist in all places, at all times, and that creative is force is the humans, who were given the faculties to have dominion over all other creations.
Much of the problem really exists in all the confusion of, "Let go, surrender, accept, be the change, take charge of your life, just allow, just be, ........." So many statements of how to be, yet saying you are perfect just as you are. Such contradictions, just as the seasons seem contrary. Seek peace, yet we watch nature in a fight of the fittest. Tsunamis and earthquakes do not speak of balance and harmony. And you may be asking how are we in control of these?
It is all a vibration and it comes from the most prominent vibration of the collective mass. When there is discord among the people there will be a reflection of it through nature. Nature is our guidance system. Should you feel personally responsible for storms and wars which feel out of your control. Perhaps not, but perhaps you should look a little deeper to see what chaos, hatred, guilt or shame you harbor within, that is assisting nature in taking on a tumultuous vibration, releasing it in the world. For all energy, good, glorious, or chaotic must move, change, release, allow, surrender and let go.
Just as there is a season for all things, there is a time to surrender, and time to allow, a time to be the change, and a time to take control. For this reason, we Energy Beings were given a heart, intuition, thinking faculties, and reasoning powers. We were not given these gifts to complain about the weather, the environment, the economy, our community, our country or the world. We were given these powers so creation could continue. No one but us, is responsible for what is being created.
Whether you are religious or spiritual is of no significance what so ever. A label cannot change the truth. For truth is something that cannot be changed, it has no beginning, no end and exists as the same in all things, without prejudice.
